Columbia - South America

Columbia is considerd to the be one of the best coffee regions in the world. With an ideal growing climate coupled the volcanic soil these farmers produce some of the best Arabica beans available. It has the unique location of running North to South along the the Andes. So it results in providing beans that can be roasted to bring out its silky body, cane sugar and various tropical fruits.

Perhaps you’ve heard of Juan Valdez, the character that has been immortalized with pictures of him and his donkey, Conchita,  loaded down with a 50 pound bag of coffee beans ?  Well guess what, he’s not real ! Sorry to disappoint you. His character was created in 1981 as a way to distinguish 100% columbian coffee from other blended beans from other countries. He has become an icon for Colombia as well as coffee in general, and Juan Valdez's iconic appearance is frequently mimicked or parodied in television and other media.
